Sometimes the best recipes are born from the simple desire not to waste food.
In my home, sweets almost never have time to go stale — they vanish long before that happens! But somehow, a few donuts were left in the fridge long enough to become a bit too firm to enjoy on their own.
Normally, I’d soften them in the microwave and move on. This time, though, I wanted to experiment. Inspired by a recipe from Pasen y Disgusten, I transformed those leftover donuts into a rich, velvety custard. And honestly — every spoonful was absolutely worth it.
Just a heads-up: this is definitely not a light dessert, but if you adore donuts, you’ll consider it a very delicious indulgence.
