Salted Caramel Cracker Bites (aka Cracker Toffee or “Christmas Crack”)
These irresistible bites are the perfect fusion of sweet, salty, and crunchy goodness. Layers of crisp saltine crackers, golden homemade caramel, and smooth melted chocolate make this treat an all-time favorite for holidays—or any time you need a quick, crowd-pleasing dessert.
🧾 Ingredients
For the Cracker Base:

👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Make the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it dissolves into a smooth amber liquid.
Carefully add the butter and stir until fully melted and combined.
Slowly pour in the cream (it will bubble vigorously). Stir and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt and vanilla.
Step 3: Arrange the Crackers
Lay the saltine crackers in a single layer across the prepared baking sheet, edge to edge.
Step 4: Add the Caramel
Pour the hot caramel over the crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula so each cracker is coated.
Step 5: Bake
Place the pan in the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling and golden at the edges.
Step 6: Add the Chocolate
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let them sit for a couple of minutes to melt from the residual heat.
Step 7: Spread & Sprinkle
Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
Finish with a light sprinkle of sea salt over the top.
Step 8: Cool & Break
Let the cracker toffee cool completely at room temperature or chill in the fridge until firm.
Once set, break into bite-sized pieces and enjoy!
