My nana used to make this all the time, and I finally found a recipe that trumps hers!

This Frito Pie recipe transforms the classic concession stand dish into a comforting, layered casserole. It features a base of crunchy Fritos, a hearty layer of chili, and a generous blanket of melted cheddar cheese, all baked to bubbly perfection.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Fritos corn chips1 large bag
canned chili (15 oz)2 cans
shredded cheddar cheese2 cups
diced red onions1/2 cup
sliced jalapeños1/2 cup
sour creamfor serving
diced avocadofor serving (optional)

How To Make Frito Pie:

  1. Step 1: Preheat and Layer: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grab a baking dish (a 9×13 inch dish works well). Spread half the Fritos chips across the bottom.
  2. Step 2: Chili Time: Pour your favorite canned chili (or homemade chili!) evenly over the Frito layer.
  3. Step 3: Cheese Blanket: Generously sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chili.
  4. Step 4: Frito Finish: Scatter the remaining Fritos over the cheese layer. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the Fritos.
  5. Step 5: Bake It Melty: Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Cool Down and Top: Take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve hot and customize with toppings like diced red onions, sliced jalapeños, sour cream, and diced avocado, if using.
