This Cheddar Crusted Ground Beef and Rice Casserole is a warm, filling one-dish meal that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare. As it bakes, uncooked rice soaks up all the savory goodness from beef broth, creamy mushroom soup, and seasoned ground beef—then it’s topped with a golden, cheesy crust for the perfect finish.


Cheddar Crusted Ground Beef and Rice Casserole

🧾 Ingredients

👨‍🍳 How to Make It

1. Preheat and Cook the Beef
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until it turns soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain off excess grease.

2. Mix the Casserole Base
Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the uncooked rice and combine thoroughly. Pour in the beef broth and cream of mushroom soup, stirring until everything is well incorporated.

3. Assemble for Baking
Transfer the beef and rice mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese across the top.

4. Bake to Perfection
Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and lightly browned.

5. Cool and Serve
Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
