Ingredients:

  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Pure vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Semisweet chocolate chips – 1 cup
  • Chopped pecans or almonds – 1/2 cup

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Pan
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Toffee
    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Stir in sugar, salt, and water until the sugar dissolves.
    • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
    • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Assemble the Toffee
    • Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet.
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top and let them sit for 1–2 minutes to melt.
    • Spread the melted chocolate smoothly over the toffee.
    • Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and gently press them into the chocolate.
  4. Cool and Break
    • Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature.
    • Once set, break it into pieces.
    • Optional: sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate for an extra layer of flavor.
