This hearty dish brings together creamy mashed potatoes and a flavorful, savory ground beef gravy. It’s quick to make, satisfying to eat, and easy to customize with vegetables or seasoning to suit your taste.

Ingredients

For the Mashed Potatoes:

IngredientAmount
Potatoes2 lbs, peeled and quartered
Milk1 ½ cups
Butter¼ cup
Salt & PepperTo taste

For the Ground Beef Gravy:

IngredientAmount
Ground beef1 lb
Onion1 medium, diced
Garlic2 cloves, minced
All-purpose flour2 tablespoons
Beef broth¼ cup
Curry powder (optional)½ teaspoon
Salt & PepperTo taste
Frozen peas and carrots (optional)1 cup

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Mashed Potatoes
Add the peeled, quartered potatoes to a large pot of water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork. Drain well. Mash with the butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Set aside.

Step 2: Brown the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain off any extra fat. Stir in the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until the onion becomes soft and translucent.

Step 3: Create the Gravy
Sprinkle the flour over the meat and stir well, cooking for about one minute to eliminate the raw flour taste. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens into a rich gravy. Season with salt, pepper, and curry powder, if using.

Step 4: Add Vegetables (Optional)
If using frozen peas and carrots, stir them into the gravy and simmer until heated through.

Step 5: Assemble and Serve
Scoop the mashed potatoes onto plates and ladle the hot beef gravy over the top. Serve immediately and enjoy this comforting, satisfying meal.
