I am 60 years old and only tried this recently. Great flavors!

This Cabbage Beef Bake is a hearty, all-in-one casserole that’s packed with savory flavor and comforting goodness. It features tender layers of seasoned ground beef and cabbage, mixed with rice and diced tomatoes, all baked until bubbly and topped with a blanket of melted cheddar cheese. This easy and satisfying dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Ground beef1 pound
Medium onion, chopped1
Cabbage, chopped3 cups
Diced tomatoes, undrained1 can (14.5 ounces)
Cooked rice1 cup
Garlic powder1 teaspoon
Salt1 teaspoon
Black pepper½ teaspoon
Cheddar cheese, shredded1 cup
Beef broth½ cup

How To Make Cabbage Beef Bake:

  1. Step 1: Prep & Brown: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Step 2: Layer: Layer half of the chopped cabbage into the prepared baking dish. Spoon the cooked beef and onion mixture over the cabbage and then sprinkle with the cooked rice. Pour over the undrained diced tomatoes.
  3. Step 3: Add Broth & Bake: Add the remaining cabbage on top and gently pour the beef broth over the entire dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Finish & Serve: Remove the foil, sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
