🍜 Ground Beef Lo Mein (Serves 4)

🛒 Ingredients

Main Components

  • 12 oz lo mein noodles (or substitute spaghetti)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil (for added depth)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, cut into matchsticks
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (or a coleslaw mix)
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 green onions, chopped

For the Sauce

  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but flavorful)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (or extra soy sauce)
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • ¼ cup beef broth or water
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (for thickening)

👨‍🍳 How to Make It

1️⃣ Cook the Noodles
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Boil the noodles until just tender (al dente), per package instructions.
Drain, rinse under cold water, and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the Beef
In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns.
Drain off excess fat if needed, then remove beef and set aside.

3️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables
In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil.
Add onion, garlic, carrots, cabbage, and bell pepper.
Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring often, until just tender but still crisp.

4️⃣ Mix the Sauce
Whisk all sauce ingredients together in a small bowl until fully combined.

5️⃣ Bring It All Together
Return the cooked beef to the pan.
Add in the noodles and pour the sauce over everything.
Toss well to combine. Let it cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is well coated.

6️⃣ Serve and Enjoy
Top with chopped green onions.
Serve hot and savor every flavorful bite!
