This hearty casserole is a comforting, family-friendly dish that’s easy to make and full of flavor. With layers of seasoned ground beef, soft egg noodles, and a creamy sour cream-cheese blend, all topped with melted Cheddar, it’s a warm and satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients:

IngredientAmount
Ground beef1 lb
Diced white onion1 large
Egg noodles1 (8 oz) package
Tomato sauce2 (15 oz) cans
Garlic salt1 teaspoon
Salt1 teaspoon
White sugar1 teaspoon
Sour cream1 cup
Cream cheese1 (3 oz) package
Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese½ cup or more

Instructions:

1. Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until it’s fully cooked and crumbly. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the garlic salt, salt, sugar, and tomato sauce. Combine well, then reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and keep covered.

2. Boil the Noodles:
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles until al dente, following package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water to halt cooking.

3. Preheat Oven & Prepare Dish:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or oil.

4. Mix the Creamy Layer:
In a medium bowl, combine the chopped onion, sour cream, and cream cheese. Stir until smooth and well incorporated.

5. Assemble the Casserole:
Start by layering half of the noodles in the bottom of the prepared dish. Spread half of the sour cream mixture over the noodles. Add half of the meat sauce on top. Repeat the layers with the remaining noodles, cream mixture, and beef.

6. Top and Bake:
Sprinkle shredded Cheddar generously over the top. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

7. Serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving. Dish it up warm and enjoy!
