👩🍳 Directions
1. Make the Cake Batter:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and flour a square or rectangular baking pan.
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy and pale.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each. Add the vanilla.
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix gently—just until combined.
Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. Mix the cocoa powder into one half to create your chocolate batter.
2. Assemble the Cake:
Drop spoonfuls of the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pan.
Swirl the batters together using a knife or skewer to create a marbled pattern.
3. Add the Crinkle Topping:
In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar and granulated sugar.
Sprinkle the sugar mixture generously over the entire surface of the batter.
4. Bake:
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
