Easy Slow-Cooker Three-Envelope Roast
This slow-cooker favorite is known for its deep flavor and effortless preparation. By combining Italian seasoning, Ranch mix, and brown gravy, the roast cooks down into tender meat surrounded by a rich, savory sauce every time.
Three-Envelope Roast
Ingredients
- Chuck roast – 3 pounds
- Italian seasoning mix (dry) – 1 packet
- Ranch seasoning mix (dry) – 1 packet
- Brown gravy mix (dry) – 1 packet
- Water – 1 cup
- Salt and black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Season the meat
Generously season the chuck roast with salt and black pepper on all sides. Place it in the bottom of the slow cooker. - Prepare the sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the Italian seasoning mix, Ranch seasoning mix, and brown gravy mix with 1 cup of water until fully blended. - Add to the slow cooker
Pour the seasoning mixture evenly over the roast. If desired, add vegetables such as baby potatoes, carrots, or onions around the meat. - Cook slowly
Cover and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours, until the roast becomes very tender. - Baste and shred
Occasionally spoon the cooking liquid over the roast. Once it’s fork-tender, shred or slice the meat as preferred. - Serve and enjoy
Make sure any added vegetables are fully cooked, then serve the roast with plenty of the rich “three-envelope” gravy spooned over the top.
