Three-Envelope Roast

Ingredients

  • Chuck roast – 3 pounds
  • Italian seasoning mix (dry) – 1 packet
  • Ranch seasoning mix (dry) – 1 packet
  • Brown gravy mix (dry) – 1 packet
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Salt and black pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the meat
Generously season the chuck roast with salt and black pepper on all sides. Place it in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Prepare the sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the Italian seasoning mix, Ranch seasoning mix, and brown gravy mix with 1 cup of water until fully blended.
  3. Add to the slow cooker
Pour the seasoning mixture evenly over the roast. If desired, add vegetables such as baby potatoes, carrots, or onions around the meat.
  4. Cook slowly
Cover and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours, until the roast becomes very tender.
  5. Baste and shred
Occasionally spoon the cooking liquid over the roast. Once it’s fork-tender, shred or slice the meat as preferred.
  6. Serve and enjoy
Make sure any added vegetables are fully cooked, then serve the roast with plenty of the rich “three-envelope” gravy spooned over the top.
